(SCALING & POLISHING)
Teeth cleaning is an important part of preventive oral care and it is also one of the treatments for periodontal disease (gum disease).
It removes the buildup of plaque, calculus & external stains on the teeth, that regular daily brushing cannot remove.
- Removal of plaque: Plaque is a sticky, almost invisible film that forms on the teeth. It is a growing colony of living bacteria which causes gum disease.
- Removal of calculus (tartar): Calculus is hardened plaque that has been left on the tooth for sometime and is now firmly attached to the tooth surface. Calculus forms above and below the gum line and can only be removed with special dental instruments.

- Wisdom teeth: Because of limited space and partial eruption, wisdom teeth (Third molars) are extremely difficult to clean and are more likely to develop cavities and periodontal infections.
- There is an infection or decay associated with the wisdom tooth
- Wisdom tooth is causing pain or facial swelling
- There is inadequate space for the wisdom tooth to erupt
- The wisdom tooth is pressing into neighboring teeth
