DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental Implants With The Highest Success Rate

WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT?

A Dental Implant is an artificial replacement for the root of a missing tooth using a titanium screw.

This integrates with the bone providing a solid foundation for a new tooth.

They are a solution for replacing single or multiple missing teeth.

What are the advantages of dental implants over other teeth replacement options?

A dental implant is a titanium screw that is surgically placed into the jawbone as a support for a replacement.

Since they fuse with your surrounding bone, implants essentially become a permanent part of your new smile.

Unlike removable dentures or bridges, dental implants offer superior stability, functionality and will not affect neighboring healthy teeth.

DENTAL IMPLANT PROCEDURE

1. Consultation

We will determine your suitability for dental implants and recommend potential treatment options.

2. Planning

With the help of 3D x-rays combined with our expertise, we will create a tailored treatment plan for you.

3. Implant surgery

Dental implants are placed into your jaw painlessly under local anaesthesia.

This involves the following:

  • Removal of the damaged tooth (if applicable)
  • In some cases, jawbone preparation (grafting) is needed
  • Surgical placement of dental implant
  • Placement of healing collar on the implant to ensure that the gums don’t grow over the implant.

4. Healing

There is a waiting period of 3 to 4 months to allow for the fusing of the implant with the bone (osseointegration)

5. Placing the abutment

A metal extender called an abutment is typically added to the implant.
This may be done during the initial procedure or during a second minor procedure under a local anesthetic.
Abutments are used to connect the replacement tooth to the implant.

6. Fixing of artificial teeth

Once the healing is complete, we will take an impression of your teeth, which will be used to fabricate your artificial teeth in the dental lab.
Artificial teeth can be fixed or removable.
If you opt for a fixed tooth, it will be permanently cemented or screwed onto the implant.
If you opt for a removable tooth, it will be mounted onto a metal frame and attached on the implant.

Frequently asked questions

Implants are a safe and predictable way to replace missing teeth.
They are usually made from titanium, a material that is accepted by the body and fuses with the natural bone, locking it into place, giving replacement teeth the stability and strength to function like natural teeth.

Modern dental implant treatment is a straightforward process that is easier than having a tooth removed.
This treatment is performed under local anaesthesia, so you will not feel any pain during or shortly after the procedure.
As this is a surgical procedure, you might experience some post-operative discomfort for which we will prescribe a course of medication with painkillers.

Depending on the case, a dental implant can be done immediately after the tooth extraction on the same day or 3 to 6 months after extraction.

A dental implant placement procedure for a single tooth may take about 1 hour. The implant is left to heal & integrate into the bone for 3 to 4 months, after which the crown is placed onto the dental implant.

With regular maintenance and right care, dental implants should last just as long as natural teeth.
